I Wanna Be Just Like You, Big Brother

 Hammering the wall.
 Working on the workbench.
Just love these shots of the two of them. It seems these days every time I look up, she is right next to wherever he is. 19 months apart. 7 pounds apart. 8 inches apart. Same diaper size. She is a bit more round that he ever was!

Notice the "work pencil" behind his ear. He also has on his "work underwear" he told me. Right before he peed in them. That one day in big boy pants lasted 45 minutes. Potty training will resume next week. Maybe.

A rare moment when she had the dump truck all to herself!

The Neverending Project... is done! (with lots of help)

We tore up the carpet two weeks ago and as of last weekend, our hardwood is totally in!! Kris did an amazing job and worked late into the night to get some time in without the little helpers around. The pics below are mostly of Grady and Laine helping dad complete our DIY project. I have no idea why it took so long. Ha!

It was a bit challenging to keep Lainey from crawling all over the sub-floor that didn't have hardwood on it yet. In the beginning, we worked super hard to keep her on the carpet patch left in the family room. We stacked blocks, read books, played patty cake. By the end of the 2 weeks, she was covered in dust rolling all over that splinter-filled plywood holding hammers and investigating the staple gun.  Hey, she survived.

Grady wore his safety goggles for the installation.

He worked for hours laying out the scraps of hardwood in a perfect pattern. We still have them in the house and they continue to keep him very busy.
 Find the cute little baby!

This is the latest complete picture I have. I'll have to take more later!

Christmas in July for our Little Contractor

Grady is passionate about tools and working on things. He has been known to tell me as he is eating his PB&J that he has to get going because he has work to do. The entire corner of our front room is dedicated to his workbench and all of his tools. By all of his tools, I mean 8 screwdrivers, 3 drills, 5 hammers, 3 saws, 2 Home Depot smocks, and numerous other things a 2 year old needs to complete his tasks. So, tonight after tucking him in bed, Kris and I started to tear up the carpet downstairs as step one of our new hardwood floors... WOHOOOO!!! He could hear us doing the job and kept yelling from his crib. At 9:15, he was still awake and I knew he would be SO excited to see what was going on downstairs, so I got him out of his crib. It seriously was like Christmas morning to him. He had a million questions, and could hardly contain himself to get downstairs to help daddy. I wish I knew he would remember this when he is bigger, I know he won't. But I do know he will be up earlier than he normally is in the morning because he thinks he will be tearing up the other half of the carpet. He told me, " When the sun comes up, I will tear out the carpet with my daddy, mommy." I know it probably isn't the safest plan with the staples, tack board, and the exacto knife, but I am pretty sure I can't say no to my little contractor in his Home Depot smock and his blue screwdriver.
