There's really no excitement to the story of it all since she fell two feet off a chair that her brother spun in a circle onto a carpeted floor. She must have landed just right and had no problem telling everyone at the doctor's office that day, "My brudder spinned me off a chair and I broke my arm." She actually broke both bones in her wrist.
It's been a month now, and she hasn't once mentioned her arm hurts nor has she complained about her hot pink cast. She has been to a gym with a foam pit and trampolines and played no problem, she swings, she climbs, she falls repeatedly onto the broken arm, she goes head first down slides, she jumps on the beds, she climbs in to her crib independently, she gets dressed one armed, goes potty one armed, and has stayed as independent as any almost 3 year old can with one arm.
Here are some pictures.
After the 3 hour doctor trip. Saw Dr. Mehl, got Xrays, got splint. Special treat with mom at Starbucks for not shedding a tear or complaining about all the waiting in every department at Kaiser.
Three days later. On the way to replace the splint with a real cast.
She's looking over her color options below. The doctors tried to convince her she needed at purple and pink cast. She just stared at them and said in a slightly annoyed tone, "Just pink." As if her outfit was confusing as to what her favorite color is at this time.
Just taking a little trip with all her friends on the "airplane" to Oklahoma City. Good times.
The airline serves bananas as an in flight snack. And handed out Batman socks to keep this passenger's feet warm.
She chose the jewelry from the treasure chest at the doctor's office. But before she chose it, she saw a plastic dinosaur that she pulled out and exclaimed, "Grady LOVES dinosaurs!! I'll get this for him!" To which I said she needed to pick her own prize for being brave also thinking he's the one who pushed you off the chair, ma'am.... but also thinking if only all people had the hearts of 2 year olds, she loves unconditionally with not an ounce of a grudge for him. The doctor let her have the necklace and the dino. Grady was as excited to get the dino as she was to give it to him.
She calls herself Super Lainey.
Happiest little thing in the world. Love her.
