I guess our kids look just a bit like their older brother and sister... Above is Lainey (almost 1) and Tatum Grace (2 weeks) a couple days ago, and below is Grady (10.5 months and Isla Paige (3 weeks)
at Christmas 2010.

Lainey, You are almost 1, and you are a big girl now. You love to eat all kinds of food. Your favorites are bananas, mac & cheese, strawberries, grilled cheese, and peas. You love to dance- you bounce up and down whenever you hear anything that even resembles a tune. (Even the Dora song... Backpack, Backpack- that isn't really a song at all). You don't say too much yet. Sometimes you make sounds like uh-oh and no-no. And you do day dadada, mama, woof woof, but you are just repeating and don't really put those words to things yet. You point to the fan and sometimes wave bye-bye. You love to cuddle and love to sit on mom and dad's lap. You even snuggle! Your brother never did that! Something you and your brother do have in common is the early bird wake time. As I'm typing this, you have been up since a bit before 5. Usually it's at least 5 or 5:30!!! We let you cry for awhile, but you don't give up easily- and never have- so we come get you. You like to have your milk and lay in our bed for a bit. Then you are up and at 'em. You can stand up for long periods, but haven't taken a step yet. I think you will be walking in the next couple of weeks. You have to keep up with that big brother of yours. Your head is bald on top, but there are some little curls in the back. We'll see if you have curly hair by the time you are 2! Happy almost 1st birthday, little girl! I love you!
Grady, You are getting more fun every single day. You are 2 and a half and everyday you say something that makes me giggle. Your latest is you tell me how an every day object is like something else. For example, we had rotisserie chicken the other night for dinner and you told me how the chicken leg looked like a hot air balloon. Then I got out some gourds for the fall and you told me the gourd looked like a chicken leg. We have a vase and you told me it looks like the volcano in one of our books from the library. (and it does!). You are so observant and pay attention to small details in everything. I decorated the mantel for the fall, and you came down from your nap and said, "Wow, that looks good mommy!" We are in a music class on Thursdays and went to our first class yesterday. You are every bit of 2 and a half and a boy. When we were supposed to hold hands and sing and walk in a circle, you shouted, "I only hold hands in a parking lot!!!" And when we sang about family and cousins, you announced, "My cousin is Isla Paige!!!" You were not shy. Our conversation on the way home was how next week we are going to listen to the teacher and do what she asks us to do. Ha! We'll see how that goes. Your little sister is obsessed with you. You are working on being nice to her. It's just hard when you are 2 and everything in the world is yours and you want it even when you haven't played with it in a year. Or ever. You love to read and scam me into reading way too many books every
night before bed, but I don't mind. I know someday you won't be begging
me to read to you, so I figure I might as well soak it up now. Who cares
if you are up a bit later than you should be! You said to me last night when we were reading... I love you, mom. I think that was a first. My heart was happy. I love you, Gradycakes.
