3.5 and 22 months

Grady and Lainey at 3.5 years and 22 months:

Some things out of Grady’s mouth lately:

-One evening while he was being wild and crazy in his room we were trying to get him calmed down for bed and Kris was getting on him he said, “Dad, you have TWO choices, you can be nice or you can go to bed.” I guess he is hearing the Love and Logic strategies, they just aren't working. Ha!

-Mom, why did God make my butt itchy?

-At the Boulder Creek the other day, “This is a PERFECT day in Boulder!!”

-He is entering the “why?” stage. It is so cool to hear all of the questions he comes up with and how genuinely interested he is in the answers we give him. He wants to know what letters lots of words start with. He and Kris had a 20 minute conversation about why he couldn’t drink the water in Boulder Creek that led into how water gets cleaned before it comes out of our faucets. Thrilling topic… but he was so inquisitive about it.

-Most of the time he asks questions about God and why did he make things the way he did. Like why did God make everyone’s heads different sizes? And Why did God make this screwdriver look this way? Why did God make our sink look like this?


- He has a piggie bank full of coins and a few dollar bills that he is saving for his 4-wheeler. Funny how he thinks $9.37 will buy you a real 4-wheeler (like at great grandma Helen's).... not the one pictured above at Toys R Us. 

When dad wouldn’t let him paint the staircase with him, “I’m going to get my chainsaw so I can cut your leg off.” You'd never know words like that would come out of this little cutie:)

Out of Lainey’s Mouth:

-She sings Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs , and a variety of songs she’s learned from grandma and the computer. And puts stickers all over her naked self.

-While putting my glasses on she shouted, "I'm Dr. Meeehl!!" (Her dr. that wears super thick old-school glasses) 

-She is obsessed with Swiper the Fox on Dora. I just told Kris she should be Swiper for Halloween if she is still as into him as she is now. I say, "Lainey, you sneaky fox." And she says, "I'm Swiper!!!"

-After she stayed with grandma and grandpa for a long weekend… if you ask her if she’s ok, she replies, “I’m otay!”

-I shouldn’t admit this but it is too funny not to write down so I will remember it…One night when Kris put her to bed she say, “Shut up Swiper, you stupid fox.” After he closed the door, he heard her repeat it numerous times. Concerning. Yes. Funny.  Also yes.

- Just today she strung together one of her longest sentences while holding a little plastic Christmas tree.  “This is a Christmas tree, Santa comes at Christmas, brings me presents.” She has some time to wait, but she is as obsessed with Santa and Christmas as she is with Swiper.

-She loves to be naked and has been peeing and pooping on the potty for about a month or so. It started with her stripping her diaper off in her crib and pooping and peeing on her sheets. From then on, she went to bed with her diaper on backwards. When we are home all day, she just yells, “I have to poop!!!” and scoots on over to the potty and goes. She then proceeds to run to the kitchen and climb the cabinet for her M&M. 

M&M!!!!!!! Grady helps get them down and makes sure he gets a blue one to celebrate Laine's potty skills. I try not to remind him he was over 3 when he earned M&Ms because of going on the big boy potty... and his sissy isn't quite two. One of the many many differences we see between a boy and a girl!!

There is so much more that I think I need to write down, but never get around to. They are at such fun ages right now and have such cute little personalities. Love them!!
