Christmas Break Part One

Since I'm not great at documenting everything, these are a few pics of the kiddies activities over the first week of break.
The girls and I went to Krispy Kreme the Friday before everyone was off for vacation.
They were fascinated by the behind the scenes look at how donuts are made.

Sugar cookie making.

My friend Emily gave me a huge bag of gingerbread house supplies for my birthday. (She knows what will keep these kids busy for an hour:)) They made a playground this time around. Remember, we already made round one of gingerbread houses on that snow day the week before.

See the tire swing!

We also made gingerbread cookies. These were the ones we packed up to leave out for Santa at Mimi and Papa's.
Do you think he ever got sick of this activity? Maybe... but the boys had a great time decorating at Nate's house. The moms enjoyed a glass of wine and painted our nails while the boys peacefully played upstairs. Ha. Just kidding. They were insane. Like totally insane. But the part about the wine and nails is true.

I think she likes red polka dots.

Little man outside alone shoveling off the back patio.

Like I've mentioned in previous posts, Grady is into sports these days. This says, Ohio State is gonna beat Michigan State in the Superbowl. (He's still figuring out the difference between National Championship and Superbowl, ha!)

An elephant he made in art at school. Kris took a picture of it for me.

Kindergarten is teaching him a lot! He wrote this note to Elfie all by himself. He's come a long way since August!!

Ava continued her shenanigans over break....

Christmas service with my babies.

Cheeeeese.

Please note the girls dresses/skirts and the boy's sweatpants. I'm pretty sure he'll be the 8th grader still wearing warm up pants or shorts and a t-shirt when it's 13 degrees out. Mark my words.

Oh magical night of Christmas Lights Viewing. With a 5, 4 and 1 year old, a golden retriever, a mom who just wanted a latte and a dad as a chauffeur. You can imagine it just didn't go as I envisioned in my mind. As with most things with kids this age.

We enjoyed our cake pops and a sip of hot cocoa before hitting the road.

Findo, the dog, joined us too.

She had water.

Wait, is that a dog in the front seat with a mom in the back. Yes, yes it is. Dad thought it would be a great idea to bring him. Mom, not so much, but went with it. This is kind of how it went.
Kid 1: Are we done yet?
Mom: We just started, we haven't seen any lights yet.
Kid 2: We've been in the car foreverrrrrrr
Dad: We just got in the car
Kid 3: Has no clue why we are in the car, but is not annoyed.
Kid 1: I just want to go home.
Mom: No, we are going to see lights and enjoy our tradition.
Kid 2: I just spilled my hot chocolate.
Dog: whining in front seat, panting uncontrollably.
Kid 3: Happy as a clam babbling to self.
Mom: Why are we going this way? All the good lights are over there.
Dad: Why aren't you driving?
Mom: I will next year.
Kid 1: Can we go home??
Kid 2: We've been in the car soooo long.
Dad: We are going home.

Total time in car: 16 and a half minutes.
Back home by 5:53 pm.

Hilarious.
